Message from the Chief University Librarian

DRIt is my extreme pleasure to welcome you to The Iddi Basajjabalaba Memorial Library (IBML), first on the Website and then in person if you can. First and foremost, I thank the many people who invested so much into this state of art multi-million dollar modern library by giving out their creativity, ideas, architectural knowledge and skills, financial and above all hard work.  I invite every knowledge seeking persons as well as beauty loving people to come and experience this gem of a library!

On our part, as reflected in the IBML's mission, the library is a service unit dedicated to continuously improve through responsive and meaningful interactions with all members of KIU community. Guided by KIU mission, vision and strategic directions, the IBML sfaff  pledge to sustain a welcoming environment founded on trust and respect.  Within such an environment, we shall be able to listen, respond and collaborate with KIU community in a process that is characterized by generosity of spirit, good humor and creative thinking.

The Office of the Chief University Librarian (CUL) is tasked to set policies, to direct and support programmes and activities to accomplish the KIU mission. As the Chief University Librarian, I pledge to establish an environment of open communication that encourages constructive thinking and feedback.  I seek your participation and input, so that together we can create an environment that fosters learning and collaboration, embraces the social importance of the library and strengthens core programmes and collections.

I preside over a dedicated variant trained staff that is ever available to assist with Online and Offline reference services and other information needs.  If there are any specific ways we can assist your learning, teaching and research needs, please do not hesitate to contact us.   Kindly take time to explore and discover the range of quality and genre resources and services the IBML offers.

I am very excited about the future of KIU and all its campus libraries; a future that is bright and depends on mutual collaboration.
